Dedicated. Hardworking. Ethical. As an At-Large Council member, I will represent all Lexington residents with dignity and respect. I am here to serve YOU.
I believe in being accessible to constituents and being held accountable for his actions as a council member.
Informing Lexington residents of council decisions and providing them with necessary resources are a key part of my platform.
So many citizens are only one pay check away from total disaster. We can do much more to see to it that our citizens have not only the resources that they need for survival, but that they also have the resources necessary for a good life.
I believe Lexington is fortunate to have intelligent folks and varied resources that can be leveraged to all but end poverty. Part of that vision includes finding a way to eradicate homelessness. Let's team up with other cities that have been successful in this goal.
Our political leaders tend treat crime, drug addiction, and poverty as completely separate issues. I believe that they are intertwined. If we sincerely addressed the problem of poverty, I believe that we will a drop in crime and drug use.
We need to put more resources into mental health care. I also believe that there should be a mental health wing of law enforcement. Quite often police officers are called on to deal with a citizen who is suffering mental health issues, and the police are not equipped to deal with the problem. Let's provide them with the tools to respond safely to any situation.
While Lexington is a wonderful city with many resources and opportunities to live a flourishing life, many of our citizens do not have access to those resources and opportunities. Instead, they are marginalized and voiceless. My goal is to bring those in the margins to the center with the rest of us. Lexington is big enough for everyone, so everyone should have a seat at the table.
